Kansas City, Kansas, is celebrating its first-ever Black Restaurant Week September 7-13, 2026, bringing together Black-owned restaurants across Wyandotte County. The weeklong celebration leads into 913 Day on September 13, giving locals and visitors an opportunity to discover new restaurants, support local entrepreneurs and enjoy flavors from across Kansas City, Kansas.
From barbecue and soul food to pizza, coffee and more, Black Restaurant Week is a chance to experience the food and stories that make KCK's dining scene unique.
Black Restaurant Week shines a spotlight on the Black-owned restaurants and entrepreneurs who contribute to the Kansas City, Kansas, community. Throughout the week, participating restaurants will welcome diners looking to try something new, revisit a local favorite or support a neighborhood business.

Celebrated annually on September 13, 913 Day honors the people, culture, history and local businesses of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas. Named for the area's 913 area code, the celebration is an opportunity to recognize the people and places that make the community special.

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, has recognized Black Restaurant Week through a proclamation from Mayor/CEO Christal E. Watson. The proclamation recognizes the important role Black-owned restaurants play in Wyandotte County's cultural heritage, local economy and community identity.
By dining locally during Black Restaurant Week, visitors and residents can discover new places while supporting the entrepreneurs, families and businesses that help shape Kansas City, Kansas.
