Midtown
Mostly residential, Midtown is situated between Downtown and Village West and provides access to big Kansas City attractions without all the hustle and bustle.
Visitors to Midtown KCK will find a range of locally owned restaurants that have served Kansas City, Kansas families for decades, including Don Antonio's and Italian Delight. The neighborhood is also home to Jones Bar-B-Q, where sisters Deborah and Mary Jones, two of the only female pitmasters in Kansas City, prepare nationally recognized barbecue that draws diners from across the region and beyond. You may recognize the name of season three of Netflix's Queer Eye. The Windmill KC has earned the reputation of not just a place for great coffee in Kansas City, but also a place to gather in a community-driven atmosphere.
Midtown is also a destination for youth sports travel thanks to Homefield KCK Showcase Center and Baseball Complex. The state-of-the-art sports complexes that hosts tournaments, practices, and events throughout the year. Teams and families travel from across the Midwest and the United States to compete here, making Midtown Kansas City, Kansas a frequent stop for sports-related visitors.
Some of Wyandotte County's most notable history is preserved at Grinter Place Historic Site, one of the oldest remaining farmhouses in Kansas. Once home to early settler Moses Grinter, and his wife Annie (of the Delaware tribe) the site tells the story of early river transportation, trade routes, and the first civilian post office in Kansas. The property sits on land that was once part of the Delaware Reserve, which covered much of present-day northeastern Kansas.
Outdoor opportunities are nearby at Wyandotte County Lake & Park.The 1,500-acre park featuring a 400-acre fishing lake stocked with trout and catfish, hiking and biking trails, bridle paths, an archery range, and open green space. The park entrance is also home to the nation’s first dual war memorial, The Korean-Vietnam War Memorial.
With established restaurants, a regional youth sports facility, historic landmarks, and direct access to outdoor recreation, Midtown KCK offers visitors a practical yet engaging place to stay, explore, and return to.
