West

The West side of Kansas City, Kansas is booming with world-class shopping, sports, dining, and entertainment. There’s no slowing down on this side of town, and it all started with the building of the 1.5 mile tri-oval race track, Kansas Speedway, in 2001.

Twice each year, Kansas Speedway welcomes thousands of fans from all over the world to cheer on NASCAR Races. But the cheering doesn’t stop at the speedway. Just minutes from the stadium is the state-of-the-art Children’s Mercy Park, home to MLS team Sporting Kansas City. Swing by Field of Legends and watch the Kansas City Monarchs in action. Affordable tickets, free parking and tailgating, and tons of between-inning activities make this the ideal spot for a warm evening with the family.

Your trip isn’t complete without shopping. Not long after the opening of Kansas Speedway came major developments like Cabela’s, Nebraska Furniture Mart and Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway. In April 2006, the opening of the Legends Outlets Kansas City put Kansas City, Kansas on the map as a premier shopping destination. With 100+ retailers and restaurants, this 1,200,000 sq ft outdoor lifestyle district features a walking tour of sculptures, murals and other art forms honoring famous Kansans.

Like the rest of the city, the West side of town has many hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Explore timeless toys and watch live marble-making demonstrations at Moon Marble. Enjoy a tasting flight as you watch the sunset over the vineyard at KCK’s only winery, Rowe Ridge Winery and Vineyard. Strike a pose with cute and cuddly alpacas as you yoga in the green pastures at Manna Meadows Alpacas farm.
