Summer in Kansas City, KS means music, music and you guessed it – MUSIC. Throughout the season you can catch concerts and music festivals that cover a variety of genres anywhere from blues and jazz to country and classic rock. Here are just a few of the many musical acts you can bob your head to in Kansas City, KS this summer.

Jazz & Blues

The Kansas City, KS Street Blues Festival is back and better than ever June 24-25. Listen to the sounds of blues, folk and jazz from local and regional artists. Pack up your cooler and lawn chair for a full day of music, education and fun.

Every Wednesday through Saturday, Jazz, A Louisiana Kitchen features performances from rotating musical acts. Jazz’s menu offers an array of authentic Cajun including fried catfish nuggets to jambalaya, and both Happy Hour (M-F, 3-6 pm) and a Reverse Happy Hour (M-Th 10pm-CL, F-Sat 11pm-CL). Pairing soulful food and soulful music makes for the perfect way to spice up your date night.

Country & Rock

Formerly Cricket Wireless Providence Medical Center Amphitheater is the place to be for summer music under the stars. This season features some of the biggest names in country music including Brantley Gilbert (June 12), Rascal Flatts (July 29), Luke Bryan (August 25) and more.

This summer will also bring some of rock music’s greatest acts, as well as tributes to rock different rock legends. Lynrd Skynrd will make their way to Providence Medical Center Amphitheater (July 8), and so will heavy metal acts, Korn and Rob Zombie on their Return of the Dreads Tour (August 10).

Rock music is reborn through Providence Medical Center Amphitheater’s tribute shows. The Rock n Roll Dream Concert features tributes to Rush, Led Zepplin and ACDC, while Déjà Vu (September 17) features Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton and Tom Petty tribute bands.

All Day Music Festivals

Vans Warped Tour (July 28) is currently the longest running touring music festival in North America.This year's lineup includes Sum 41, Yellowcard, 3OH!3, Good Charlotte and more

Buzz Beach Ball (July 16-17) will be held at Children’s Mercy Park, home to Sporting Kansas City, for the third year in a row. Presented by 965 the Buzz, Buzz Beach Ball welcomes alternative pop and rock artists from around the world. Headlining this two day event will be Alabama Shakes and Cage The Elephant.
