It may seem like good news is hard to find right now. However, during a time of crisis many KCK locals and businesses have stepped up to help those in need. Here is your roundup of good things that happened in Kansas City, KS this week. 

CABA mealsThe Central Avenue Betterment Association, a KCK non-profit organization which serves the Central Avenue corridor and surrounding area, teamed up with KC local businesses to provide meals for displaced restaurant workers. Along with Open Belly, Cafe Corazon and The Tamale Kitchen, the raised enough money to feed another 100 this next week. Meals will be available to be picked up between 12:00 - 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 15th at the  Central Avenue Betterment Association at 1621 Central Avenue. This will be first come, first served. 

Each meal includes:
• 2 tamales from the Tamale Kitchen, a not-for-profit that breaks the cycle of poverty by giving immigrant women a living wage
• a Horchata from Café Corazón

KCK local company Knit-Rite, which manufactures compression garments for medical and consumer markets, has began making face masks for the general public to purchase. For every mask sold they are also donating a mask to organizations serving communities in critical need. Currently they are manufacturing 60,000 - 80,000 masks  every week, with hopes to add more machines to increase production.

Indian Springs lineHarvesters of Kansas City donated 15,000 pounds of foods to the families of Schlagle and Washington High School students. More than 100 cars lined up on Tuesday at the distribution center in the old Indian Springs Mall parking lot.
