After a long year of social distancing and small gatherings, everyone seems ready to spend the Fourth of July weekend celebrating the new found independence from the pandemic. We've got a list of family fun, fireworks and food to help you celebrate America's birthday. Here's 5 firework displays in or near Kansas City, Kansas that'll be blast !

Thursday July 1st

Bonner Blast 

The City of Bonner Springs is proud to bring back Bonner Blast! Join them on Thursday, July 1, in historic downtown Bonner Springs for the return of Bonner Blast featuring a city band concert, ice cream social, and fireworks display! Visit Historic Downtown for shopping and dinner, then head over to Kelly Murphy Park located at 129 Elm, where you’ll enjoy an evening of patriotic music followed by an old fashioned ice cream social and the Bonner Blast Fireworks Display. The City Band concert will begin at 8:30 p.m. followed by the ice cream social. Fireworks will begin around 9:45 p.m. after the City Band concert. See you there! 

Saturday July 3rd

Fireworks in the Park 

Join us Saturday, July 3rd, for our Independence Day Fireworks Show! The firework show will take place in Pierson Park around 9:45 pm (weather depending).  You and your family are invited to join us for FREE in Pierson Park for the show! Please see the below map for parking and traffic information. Note: Once inside Pierson park traffic will be one-way only, once all parking lots are filled entrance to Pierson Park will be denied!

Pre-4th of July Firework Show at Legends Field with KC Monarchs

Did someone say post-game fireworks?! Get your tickets to July 3rd’s game and stay after the game for our pre-4th of July fireworks show in left field! The team will also be wearing patriotic themed jerseys that will be available in a silent auction throughout the game to be picked up at a later date.

Gates open at 5pm for Happy Hour from 5-6p ($2 beers, dogs, and $5 margaritas).

Come celebrate Independence Day with us! The Museum and Memorial, in partnership with Cumulus Radio, invites the public to gather on the south side of the Museum for the Stars and Stripes Picnic. Bring your friends and family to listen to music, grab a bite to eat from a local food truck (or bring your own spread) and enjoy our iconic grounds. The main event will begin roughly around 7 p.m.; the public can gather as early as 3 p.m. for picnicking and shopping. A fireworks display will begin after dusk and last around 20 minutes.

KC Riverfest

We are pleased to announce that KC RiverFest 2021 will go on this year. While there will be limited entertainment and activities, there will still be plenty of food trucks, music, and of course, fireworks! There is no admission charge for 2021, however, donations to FOR_KC are strongly encouraged.

KC AirShow 

The world’s most famous jet team - the US Navy Blue Angels - return to the KC Air Show presented by Garmin on July 3rd & 4th, 2021. The Blue Angels will celebrate their 75th anniversary in 2021 as they transition from the legacy F/A-18 Hornets they've flown since 1986 to the much larger, louder and more powerful F/A-18E/F Super Hornets. This will make the low-altitude, tight-turning performances of the Blue Angel solos and the precision and majesty of the formations even more impressive! Be one of the first to see the Blue Angels rip up the sky in their new Super Hornets!

Farmer's Markets and La Placita

Spend your morning shopping for your barbecue veggies and treats at the various farmers markets around KCK. Located at Bethany Park, La Placita offers a unique cultural and market experience.
