Rock Island Bridge Projected Opening: Summer 2024  

With the Rock Island Bridge project, Kansas City, Kansas, reclaims one of its iconic bridges to create America's first-ever entertainment district over a river. Suspended 40 feet above the water, this unique public crossing will transform into a community hub, a trailhead, and an entertainment district. Rooted in the history of the Rock Island Railroad, this project pays homage to the city's past while creating a space for modern-day connection and enjoyment.   

Homefield Kansas City Projected Opening: Spring 2024  

Get ready for an immersive experience at Homefield, an $838 million youth sports complex set to redefine sports and entertainment in Kansas City. Located near 94th Street and State Avenue, Homefield will not be just about playing games; it will be a place to make memories. With all-turf baseball fields, indoor multisport facilities, and exciting partnerships with Homefield is part of a larger development that will include Margaritaville (projected opening 2025), BigShots Golf, Atlas 9. Homefield promises a blend of sports, entertainment, and unforgettable moments.

KCK Legacy Trail, Projected Start Date: Spring 2024 

Embrace the stories of the people of Kansas City, Kansas on the KCK Legacy Trail. This self-guided exploration invites you to immerse yourself in the diverse history and cultures that have shaped the city. Follow five journeys—Latino, Eastern European, Black, Indigenous Peoples and Modern Immigrants—and celebrate the vibrant tapestry that makes KCK unique. Yet another fantastic experience from the group that brought you the much-loved KCK Taco Trail.    

New Events

Copa America 2024 at Children’s Mercy Park, June 25, 2024 

Calling all soccer fans, Children's Mercy Park will host the first-ever Copa America match in Kansas City on June 25, 2024, bringing together top national teams from North and South America. The 48th edition of this historic tournament will take place from June 20 to July 14, 2024. Copa America is a quadrennial international soccer tournament staged by CONMEBOL, the organizing body for South American soccer, and CONCACAF, North America's organizing body, among other regions.

2024 American Association All-Star Game at Legends Field, July 22-23, 2024

The Kansas City Monarchs will host the 2024 American Association All-Star Game at Legends Field. The home of the Monarchs welcomes baseball enthusiasts for a celebration of the sport. Legends Field becomes a hub of activity, with the American Association tryout camp, premier baseball and softball clinics, and the AAPB Home Run Derby. Join us for a community celebration where the love for baseball knows no bounds.    

Country Stampede at Azura Amphitheater, June 27- 29, 2024 

Country Stampede, the beloved annual music and camping festival, is all set to make Bonner Springs its new home in 2024. The Azura Amphitheater will host the festival from June 27-29, 2024, bringing country music closer to the heart of the Kansas City metro area. Stay tuned for artist announcements and ticket information, as the festival promises an unforgettable experience for fans. 

100th Anniversary of the Rosedale Memorial Arch, Fall 2024 

The Rosedale Memorial Arch, paying tribute to soldiers who served our country in World War I, will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary. The Arch, based on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, was designed by Rosedale resident John LeRoy Marshall. Rosedale Development Association is planning a re-dedication ceremony in late Fall.

NASCAR Cup Series Race at Kansas Speedway, May 4-5, and September 27-29, 2024 

If you love the thrill of NASCAR racing, then get ready for not one but two action-packed weekends at Kansas Speedway. On May 4-5, experience the heart-pounding excitement of the AdventHealth 400 weekend, featuring the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series and the fan-favorite NASCAR Cup Series AdventHealth 400. But that's not all – mark your calendars for September 27-29 when the Hollywood Casino 400 weekend takes over.  

Tacos & Tequila at Legends Field, June 1, 2024 

The fourth annual Tacos and Tequila Festival will be back bringing a stellar lineup of musical talents including Grammy Award-winning artist T-Pain, and R&B singer and actress Ashanti. The festival, known for its vibrant celebration of tacos, tequila, and entertainment, will feature an array of attractions, including a Chihuahua Beauty Pageant, an Exotic Car Showcase, a Salsa/Queso Competition, and the thrilling spectacle of Lucha Libre wrestling.  

Phase Fest at Legends Field, June 2, 2024 

Kansas City welcomes Back Phase Fest Music Festival to the legendary Legends Field, home of the KC Monarchs, in June 2024, with an amazing lineup including Yellowcard, Bayside, and others! This strictly 21+ event guarantees an evening of live performances on the main stage, complemented by cocktail, beer, and wine bars, craft food vendors, a throwback video game lounge, outdoor game experiences, art installations, and more.  

Dia de Los Muertos, Central Avenue, Nov 2, 2024
