Kansas City, MO., January 28, 2019 — The American Royal is pleased to announce the 2019 World Series of Barbecue® will once again return to the Kansas Speedway, September 12-15.

The world’s largest BBQ competition is celebrating its 40th year in Kansas City.

The 2019 competition and event weekend brings together world-renowned Pitmasters and barbecue enthusiasts to compete for the title of Grand Champion in both the Open and Invitational contests. Last year over 450 competitors represented 37 States around the country and 20 international teams represented 7 countries. “This event brings the best of the best.” said Charlie Tetrick, American Royal Chairman of the Board. “And we’re thrilled to be hosting our 40th year of competitive cooking. We have some big things planned to celebrate. If you love to barbecue but have never competed at the World Series of Barbecue, this is the year to show up.”

Registration for the 40th American Royal World Series of Barbecue is now open. In celebration of 40 years, the American Royal is offering teams a pre-registration special.
