FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KANSAS CITY, Kan.  — Multiple major bridge closures may be causing a few detours, but Visit Kansas City Kansas wants locals and visitors to know there is still plenty to see, taste and experience across the city.

This Way to KCK,” reminds locals and visitors that while routes may look a little different, favorite restaurants, neighborhoods and attractions remain easy to reach. The message is simple: Don’t let bridge closures stop you from having a good time in KCK.

The closures impacting the area include the Central Avenue Bridge near Strawberry Hill, the Kansas Avenue Bridge in Armourdale and the 18th Street Bridge connecting the 18th Street Corridor and Argentine neighborhoods.

Despite the detours, businesses across these neighborhoods remain open and welcoming visitors. In Strawberry Hill, Downtown KCK and along the 18th Street Corridor, popular stops such as Blue Palm Tiki, Slap's BBQ and Hillsiders continue to draw locals and visitors alike. Businesses along Central Avenue and near the 18th Street Bridge, including Palacana and Cortadito, are also open and accessible, offering authentic flavors and local favorites just steps from impacted routes.

In the Kansas Avenue and Armourdale area, destinations such as Union Press and Latin Quarters Cafe remain easy to reach and are encouraging diners to make the short trip despite construction. These locally owned businesses continue to deliver the same quality food, service and neighborhood charm that define Kansas City, Kansas.

Local businesses need community support now more than ever. While closures may affect traffic patterns, they have not changed the experience waiting on the other side of the bridge. From happy hours in Strawberry Hill to neighborhood cafés in Armourdale and KCK’s well-known barbecue scene, visitors can still enjoy memorable experiences while helping local businesses thrive.

Visit Kansas City Kansas is supporting these efforts by providing digital toolkits for businesses, including social media guidance, sample captions, graphics and resources to help connect with visitors and highlight that KCK is open. The organization’s website also includes alternate route ideas and travel tips to help locals and visitors reach their favorite spots with ease.

“Our message is clear. Kansas City, Kansas is open and ready to welcome you,” said Ritz Dasgupta, Senior Manager, Integrated Marketing Communications at Visit Kansas City Kansas. “We are encouraging everyone across the metro to make plans in KCK, support local businesses and see for themselves that it’s not a detour, it’s a destination.”
