Wyandotte County Fair

The Wyandotte County Fair was founded 1863 and only cost 25 cents to attend its first year. The fair has been held in a variety of places until settling in their permanent home in 2011 at 137th and Polfer Road in Western Wyandotte County. The annual fair typically runs for five days, Tuesday through Saturday in mid July.

Did you know many famous artists launched their careers through this fair including Garth Brooks who performed at the Wyandotte County Fair in 1990? Live entertainment has always been a mainstay of the county fair including 4-H exhibits, livestock, petting zoos, concessions and arts & craft vendors. In more recent years the thrills of mud runs and wild carnival rides have become major crowd pullers. You’ll also find nightly promotions like carnival-wristband night, Free State Events, Go Kart Races, pig races and more.

Not only is the grounds home to the annual summer fair but it also hosts several events throughout the year including vintage shows, barn sales and community events. The event barn is an indoor 22,000 sq ft open floor plan, great for conferences, tradeshows and private events. The ground also has three picnic pavilions with power and water providing a great site for camping retreats.

The Wyandotte County Fairgrounds plans to expand in the near future.  Once all phases are complete, the fairgrounds will have a livestock show and sale facility, a state of the art shotgun shooting park with traps, skeet and a 5-stand fields that will be open to the public, an RV park and tent camping year-round, walking trails and sporting fields and courts for youth football, soccer and basketball, making the grounds a year-round activity center.
