With their third album scheduled for release this summer, indie rock band alt-J embarks on a U.S. tour that stops at Starlight Theatre on Thursday, Aug. 3.
Formed in England in 2007, the band’s third album, RELAXER, is due for release June 9 via Canvasback Music, but the album’s first song, “3WW,” is available for stream or download now. The record is the follow-up to their 2014 Grammy Award-nominated album This Is All Yours, and finds alt-J working with producer Charlie Andrew for the third time.
The members of alt-J are Joe Newman, Gus Unger-Hamilton and Thom Green. The single “Breezeblocks” off their RIAA-certified gold album, An Awesome Wave, recently went platinum. That debut album sold more than a million copies worldwide and earned alt-J the 2012 Mercury Prize. The Mercury Prize is awarded annually for the best album from the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The band has headlined festivals worldwide and sold out London’s O2 arena and New York’s Madison Square Garden on their last tour.
